Board Set to Discuss Long-Range Needs, Calendar Options

At the upcoming Board of Education meeting, members will be discussing the long-term needs of the district, including maintenance and technology needs as well as facilities expansion. In response to the reduced state funding for schools, the board also will discuss a calendar option that features extended days and a shortened school year as a cost-savings measure. For more information, view the agenda.

The Spring Hill Board of Education Meeting will be held:

Monday, Feb. 8th, 7 p.m.
Hilltop Education Center
16740 W. 175th Street

Old Glory Comes Home to the Intermediate School

Fifth graders at Spring Hill Intermediate School were recently honored to raise a "new" U.S. flag in front of the school. The flag had flown over Bagram Air Base in Afghanistan earlier this year. It was sent from student Jake Van Daele's cousin, who is serving there in the U.S. Navy. Bryan Fields, Van Daele's cousin, shared the flag as a thank you to the students in Marissa Cowan's class who had sent holiday cards to Fields and others in his battalion.

Happy "100" Days of School!

On Feb. 2nd, students at Spring Hill Elementary (SHES) and Prairie Creek Elementary Schools celebrated their 100th day of school. The celebrations were full of fun and activities. Students colored pictures, played games, exercised and more, all centered around the 100 theme. Pictured above, SHES first graders show off their "100 days" spirit.

School Closing Guidelines

When the weather outside is frightful, district officials are busy following an established protocol to determine whether or not school will be closed. In addition, specific guidelines exist regarding recess and facility usage by the community. Visit the School Closings page for more information.
