Where am I?

Counselor's Corner

The counselor at Spring Hill Intermediate provides guidance and support to teachers, and staff as well as social and emotional support to students and families. The counselor teaches character education to all students. Character education activities include learning the school’s seven Character Keys, role-playing problem-solving techniques and discussing strategies to prevent bullying in our school.

SHIS Character Keys are:

  • Compassion
  • Courage
  • Honesty
  • Perseverance
  • Respect
  • Responsibility
  • Self-Discipline

In addition, the counselor provides small group opportunities for students to develop positive peer relationships and strengthen friendship and conflict resolution skills. The counselor also works individually with students who are dealing with issues that may affect their ability to function at school—such as grief and loss, divorce, anger management, and organizational challenges.
