Budget Information
Welcome to the Spring Hill School District's Budget
Information Site. The goal is to make budget information readily
available so that you can understand more about the fiscal
management of your school district.
In late 2009, Kansas Governor Mark Parkinson announced
another reduction in public school funding. The state, which
faces a shortfall of $260 million, is required by law to balance
its budget for the current fiscal year. To accomplish this task,
a cut of $191.8 million was made to K-12 education funding. This
cut, which will cost the Spring Hill School District more than
$500,000, is the fourth cut since March 2009. In addition, the
district staff and board members are working to prepare for more
funding cuts by the state legislators that would adversely
affect the 2010-2011 school year.
All districts now face tremendous
financial need, as work continues to ensure that all students in the
State of Kansas perform at a high level of academic achievement. Visit
Budget Basics for an
overview of how state funding is determined.
Sharing timely and accurate information is critical during
these challenging budget times. The Spring Hill School
District's intent is to provide you with information that is
helpful as the district faces the challenges of spending
reductions. During the budgeting process, school administrators
are committed to keeping shareholders informed and trust that
community members will find this information helpful. In
addition, remember that your
feedback is welcome and appreciated.
As always, the goal remains the same – to provide a rigorous
curriculum for students that enable them to achieve their future
goals within a fiscally responsible budget.
